Allure Part 2: Our MAJOR Haul from the Beauty Closet

Hey everyone!

Everyone has heard rumors about magazines’ “Closets”. The fashion ones are adorned with every shoe, handbag, dress, skirt, and top ever made, and the beauty one is spilling with lip gloss, eye shadow  mascara, spray, serum, polish, and shine. Allure gave us a tour that confirmed our suspicions. Though we got to see the clothes that Allure is using for their next shoot, a meeting was going on in the actual fashion closet, so we can’t say anything about it. But the beauty closet? It’s incredible. Practically a Willy Wonka factory for makeup hoarders (like us); the whole room is covered with wide shelves (ceiling to floor) with a tiny space for the door, and another space for the lucky employees to navigate through. Two or three of the shelves are devoted to products that Allure will feature in the upcoming issue. The rest are everything that Allure can not or will not use. These products have been previously written about, tested, or placed aside because they simply don’t go with the topics that Allure is covering. We were allowed to take anything from the products that would not be used including Chanel, Prada, Burberry, Essie, Yves Saint Laurent and much, much, much more. Oohing and ahhing, we chose our favorites very carefully. Here’s our top 10 products (in no particular order).

1.  Yves Saint Laurent Pure Chromatics  Eye shadow in 1

Even before I tried this, I knew it would be good when I saw the brushes. One is double sided foam, the other is double sided rubber. Yes, rubber brushes  They are  1/2 of the recipe for high intensity. The other half? These colors were made like any other shadow-except with one tiny, yet awesome change. Have you ever wet your brush before applying shadow to make the color stick? You don’t have to with this palette! The solvent was replaced with water, so you don’t need to worry about reapplying- one of the many reasons this should be in any girls makeup bag who loves smoky eyes. Another ingredient is the colors. The silver is sparkly and light- so you don’t look look like a clown,  the green turns out to be a high-intensity black, the white is a translucent  almost blue pale highlighter, and the periwinkle adds a cool touch and ties the whole package together. Use individually or together, and be prepared to hear “wows!” all day long.

2. M.A.C. Pigment Colour Powder in Vanilla

 Pigment

This super soft illuminating powder is my new makeup staple. It gives a glow to your lips, eyes, you name it! The  pigment comes in every color, but I knew when I saw the Vanilla, I knew I needed it. It has an awesome texture, a sleek package, and stays on for hours. It’s not flaky either- it’s actually the opposite  It actually feels like your putting on velvet. I can’t even begin to describe how beautiful it looks on. Depending on how you move, it changes color. One second it’s a opaque white, the next a shimmery gold.

3.Dior Addict Gloss in Pink Trench

I’ve been lusting over this gloss for who knows how long. When I got it, I was ecstatic. It was every bit as good as I dreamed. The brush is soft and applies evenly and the gloss is actually also a plumper.  According to sephora.com’s study, lips become “+ 26% fuller and + 36% more hydrated.” (I’ve only had it for a week, but I’ll let you know) The color is  a pale, gloss that is just noticeable enough to give you that extra shine with tiny prisms of sparkle.  J’adore!

4. Rain Glitteratti powder in Gold Digger

This glitzy powder, unlike M.A.C’s, is sparkly and out-there. But not in a bad way! In a super awesome way, actually. It’s a sweet, pretty touch to a smoky eye or bronze-pink lip.  This is almost identical to the pigment powder, except while the pigment has a glow, the powder has a glow and sparkles. Never-the-less, this is a gorgeous color that looks amazing on a smoky eye.

5. M.A.C Lipglass in Viva Glam

 Viva Glam Nicki Lipglass

This reminds me so much of Nicki: it’s flirty, sweet, pretty, bright and awesome! The formula is incredible and it’s super creamy, smooth and long-lasting.  The color is a shocking pink, thats still elegant to pair with a smoky eye. The brush helps you pack as much shine is possible, it’s a little bigger than the average one. This gloss is something I’d recommend to anyone who wants a high power, shiny, and intense lip gloss.

6. Organix Moroccan Sea Salt Spray

With this sea salt spray, its summer everyday. It smells like salty ocean waves and and a tiny bit like Floridian humidity (fruity and warm and happy). Luckily, it only gives you tousled, pretty waves. It’s really easy too- all  you need to do is spray and scrunch in towel-dried wet hair, or dry for extra oomph. This is the only sea salt spray I’ve used that actually makes it look like you have perfect beachy waves.

7. Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Excentrique

Lipstick ROUGE ALLURE

It’s loud, but elegant. Pigmented, yet long-lasting. Thin, yet moisturizing. I love orange-red lipsticks, and this one is no exception. Chanel has made yet another sleek, flirty, stick that screams notice me.

7. Lucid Lipgloss in Cabo

Cabo

I’m a complete sucker for vanilla, and this Lucid gloss is paradise. The gloss smells like cake batter, but looks professional and sweet. The picture is  little deceiving: it’s a sheer. nude, color with a teeny bit of shine. The brush is long and applies the non-sticky formula easily. Love it!

Rating: ★ (8/10)

9. NYX Color Lip Balm in Grazie

COLOR LIP BALM

Want a balm that looks like a lip stick but feels like a moisturize? Look no further. This chapstick is a pale  raspberry red, color that makes your face glow. It’s really soft and also smells amazing-like cherry. It stays on for hours and makes your lips noticeably softer.

Rating: ★ (10/10)

10. Yves Saint Laurent Creme De Blush in Audacious Orange

Don’t be fooled by this bright orange color, I was at first. The tint is actually a pale pink colot, that gives you a super-natural flush.  It doubles as a lip moisturizer , but appears more coral when on lips. There’s no gross smell or any bumps, it goes on so smoothly.

FOUR MINI REVIEWS: Revlon products

Hey! I recently bought four Revlon products: Colorburst Lip Gloss, Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain, Colorstay Longwear Enamel, and Revlon Colorstay 16 hour eye shadow. They’re all super awesome, so I decided to write a review on them. (Click the picture to buy them)

1. Colorburst Lip Gloss in Sunset Peach

I got this gorgeous lip gloss as a present from my sister and I LOVE it! It looks amazing with olive skin and totally makes lips look super full. The foam brush spreads gloss easily and isn’t too gloppy or sticky. All in all, I would reccomend this yummy smelling, peach lip gloss to anyone and everyone.

PRICE: $7.50

RATING: ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ (10/10)

2.  Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

I got the next three from a Secret santa. The first is a SUPER BRIGHT balm stain. It’s really pretty, and stays on forever. Like I said before, it’s really bright, very barbie-ish. It’s fun for a night out and looks cute on. The only (slight) problem is its very delicate.  I love it and I’m very glad i got it :)

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable™ Balm Stain

Price: $9

Rating:  ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤- (9/10)

3. Colorstay Longwear Enamel in Fall Mood

My second gift from my Secret Santa was this polish. It might be one of my favorites. It’s sparkly but covers your nail, and complements your skin to make it look tan. Its’s a really good brush but a teensy bit gloppy, but dries smooth.

Revlon ColorStay Longwear Nail Enamel - Fall Mood

Price: $8

RATING: ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ (10/10)

4.  Revlon Colorstay 16 hour eye shadow in Inspired

This was my final gift from my Secret Santa. It’s nice quality and is easily applied. I haven’t gotten to use this one as much, but I have to admit that this is my least favorite.  It’ s a little bright, and it doesn’t look very good (at least on me) when I follow the look on the back. However, when the I use just one color in a look, it looks pretty!

Revlon® ColorStay™ 16 Hour Eye Shadow

Price: $5.62

RATING: ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ (8/10)

Review: Revlon Moondrops Lipstick in Orange Flip

Hey!

Mermaid here, reviewing Revlon Moondrops Lipstick in Orange Flip. When I was having a mini photo shoot with friends, my outfit was very classic, a white dress and a topknot with a denim ribbon. My friend suggested that I’d borrow her lipstick for a dash of extra color. After applying it, then checking out how it looked, I had two thoughts:

  1. WOW!
  2. Where can I get this?

Eventually, I got it, and I am so excited. The bright, firetruck red/orange, smooth, lipstick is amazing! It stays on for a really long time, and the color is crazy cool. It could be worn with anything, from a fancy dress to a casual outfit that needs some flair.

Price: On the more expensive side- $9.00

Beauty Buy

Hey,

I found this new soap… and I am in search of a body lotion version of it ;) , there is! Just wanted to share 5 things about it that make it “WOW” ing.

1. Smell- I’m in the love, not as strong as perfume but not a hidden scent it’s amazing! I even used it as an air freshener for my room, now when i walk in it’s orchids and jojoba butter smelling!

2. In General Shape- It’s a nice rectangular roundish shape and can easily fit into a travel soap container.

3. More Detailed Shape- After the smell, the details on it are my favorite. The bar of soap has a built in “massage”! There are little ball shaped things (that are still soap) attached to one side of the soap.

4. Replacements- Because soap can be a pain to put on and take longer, you can not the expierencance of the massage and wash with the body lotion version of it.

5. Price-It’s not expensive! ($3 for pack of 4 bars).

Anyway, try it out!

Smelling luscious….
